2nd graders learn the ukulele!

2nd graders were so excited to learn a little ukulele this past week! They have been reading the book "My First Orchestra Book", and just finished learning about the String Family. Although the ukulele is not a part of the Symphony Orchestra, it does have strings. And what better way to wrap up the strings than with some actual string playing?! Students will learn A LOT more about the ukulele in 4th grade, where students play ukulele most of the school year during music!

  1. These pictures are precious! Your students are loving the uke! It is great to give them a chance to try them, and letting them know they will delve deeper in years to come lets them know there is more to learn.

  2. Thanks Martie! The students were so excited to learn some ukulele since they thought they wouldn't learn until 4th grade. They always ask to play them since they see them on the walls every week, so I was happy to tie it into a lesson and teach them a little bit!
